Computer Lab
Instructor: Ms. Genna
Welcome to the Computer Lab!

The school's brand new computer lab was opened to students in July 1999.  All of the hardware and software for the lab was purchased through funds obtained from a technology grant. At that time, the lab consisted of thirteen Pentium II stand-alone PCs, two ink jet printers with an A-B switch box, a scanner, along a variety of educational and commercial software.

Since then, the computer lab has undergone many changes. Today the lab consists of a local area network of fifteen Intel Core 2 PCs, two color laser printers, a scanner, an interactive white board, and an even wider variety of educational and commercial software.

All classes meet in the computer lab according to their individual class schedules. Elementary, middle school, and high school level classes are taught by the school’s computer teacher. Currently, due to scheduling constraints, there are no “open lab” periods.

2011-2012 School Year Goals
September 14, 2011

Dear Viewers,

My plan for this school year is to create learning experiences for my students based on the National Educational Technology Standards for Students 2007 (NETS-S) at http://www.iste.org. I will also provide high school students with course content that that connects the Career Development and Occupational Studies Learning Standards (CDOS) 3B corresponding performance indicators as described in the area of Business/Information Systems.

  • We will begin with understanding and applying the LFUFSD Acceptable Use Policy as detailed in our district’s technology plan. We will also reintroduce Internet safety precautions and procedures for all students.

  • Students will be engaged in real-world tasks across the curriculum that shall assist in instilling wonder, while maintaining accountability.

  • Students will use the technology we have accessible to us to practice 21st Century skills that will prepare them for the workplace and everyday life. Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Internet Explorer, will be utilized.

  • High school students will be provided with Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities in the areas of Business and Marketing Education. Some of the topics addressed may include but are not limited to, foundations of business, career planning, keyboarding, word processing, desktop publishing, spreadsheets, and multimedia, personal finance, business/consumer math, business communications, website development, and entrepreneurship. Project-based activity topics may vary and some students may qualify for an independent study project.

  • Middle and elementary level students will be introduced to touch-typing skills. These students will also be engaged in project-based computer activities designed to integrate technology into the respective grade appropriate curriculum.
Sincerely,

Ms. M. Genna
